For over 100 years, Bible translators have believed that the printed editions of transcriptions of codex Sinaiticus honestly represented what it contains, but this is simply not the case. It is no small matter that a view of the actual codex has not been available to translators, much less to the general public, but that this codex has been presented as if it were the most ancient and well preserved extant Greek New Testament. Because of Sinaiticus, whose true form was somehow kept from public view, modern Bible translations are littered with footnotes that boil down to "this is probably wrong" on every page. All that translators have is "critical edition" texts, which liberally refer to Sinaiticus as the best and most noble truth. Since Sinaiticus is so full of uncertainty, there is always going to be a new excuse to revise the critical text
