Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse allows us to once again play the role of the title characters, i.e. Sam the dog and his faithful companion - Max the rabbit, known from the pages of Steve Purcell's comics. This time, our brave independent policemen must face villains from all over the galaxy, led by the sinister gorilla Skun-ka'p, who intend to use Max's newly acquired supernatural abilities. Although it all sounds quite serious (and the impression is further enhanced by cutscenes inspired by the Twilight Zone series, accompanied by a narrator telling about the subsequent adventures of the titular duo), the game is full of absurd humor, which is the hallmark of the series. Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse consists of five chapters. The gameplay does not differ much from what we are accustomed to in the previous installments of the series. While traveling through various locations, we talk to characters, solve various puzzles and play a number of mini-games. As we progress, we acquire special gadgets that affect Max's powers; predicting the future, teleportation, mind reading and metamorphoses are used by him to solve puzzles. The title has a built-in hint system that we can use when we are unable to move the story forward. As was the case with the remasters of Sam and Max's previous adventures, the authors of this production focused on the mechanics. Thanks to this, we can, among other things, return to already completed chapters of the story, even to discover optional secrets. The title also stands out from the original thanks to improved controls and additional Easter eggs. The visuals of Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse have been significantly improved compared to the original; the main focus was on textures, lighting and character models. ..::TECH-DATA::..
