The gameplay in Dune: Empire is based on the pattern known from the original board game. Each of the ten rounds during which the game takes place is defined by a new conflict on the surface of Arrakis. While some skirmishes can be a source of valuable resources, others provide victory points necessary to dominate other players. During the game, we build a deck from which we select and play cards, placing our agents in different places on the planet. Where we send specific subordinates determines how we build our power. Although there is nothing stopping you from focusing on military power, sacrificing diplomacy or focusing on economics may be equally effective. Interestingly, we can play individual cards in two ways: by using them immediately and sending agents to collect resources, or by revealing them only at the end of the round, thus gaining the opportunity to purchase new cards. Moreover, as we expand our deck, individual cards become more and more powerful. Dune: Empire can be played alone against the AI or in multiplayer mode over the Internet. The game includes, among others, a number of specially prepared challenges, as well as a skirmish mode in which each game looks different. The graphic design of Dune: Imperium consists primarily of interface elements and two-dimensional illustrations presenting specific places and characters.
