Initial Reaction: It’s another nicely different movie from the Darks and Passolini. Who Should Watch It : Anybody who likes inter-racial sex, politically incorrect humor, and who wants something a little different Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants the same old porno Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very good, especially when one considers that the movie is almost twenty years old. The audio is clear and normally well balanced. There are a few areas that are dubbed, but normally they’re not too noticeable. The video is also very clear, and doesn’t have much grain. There’s a few shadows, but they mostly seem to be intentional to help create some of the mood. Music: The music varies quite a bit. It has a bit of tribal music as well as an eighties feel to it, neither of which are styles you’d normally expect to hear in an adult film. I helps with the unique feel of the feature, and is very well balanced with the rest of the audio. Menus: The menus are very plain. The Main menu is simple and doesn’t even have any animation. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene. The Feature: Tony Martino is a loser, no doubt about it. His best friend Mr. Bob, is a rubber rat, and he has to search through piles of garbage for something to eat. He finds a card in the garbage, but doesn’t really know what to do about it. Tony is clueless about most everything, including knowing what having his knob gobbled is. Luckily Mr. Bob can talk, which is pretty good for a rubber rat, and knows a pimp (Jack Baker). Jack thinks Madame Mambo can help Tony, so they set off with Mr. Bob to find the Mistress. Lady Stephanie and Purple Passion start off the first legal scene with Kevin James. That’s right, Traci Lords was the opening scene with Tony Martino. The girls devour Kevin’s white cock as well as giving each other a little attention before Kevin slides his cock into each of their pink centers. Myself I prefer a few more distance shots, but the Darks mix things up enough so that it isn’t as annoying as normal. When Black Throat was made, inter-racial sex was still fairly taboo, and anal sex wasn’t as a mandatory action for a porn movie, yet it’s in almost every scene here. It’s all well done, with Christy Canyon’s scene really shining. There’s also some great humor throughout the movie, almost none of which is politically correct. The plot seems to be half a joke, but it’s an amusing joke that I could easily enjoy. VCA deserves a little extra credit here also. They’ve edited this movie from it’s original form to remove an underage Traci Lords. This isn’t a high plot movie by any means, but if you didn’t know it, you wouldn’t. Nothing seems out of place or like it just dies. It all blends together to create another unique Dark Brothers movie that’s a very nice diversion from reality and the porn of today. Extras: The photo gallery lasts about two and a half minutes with about seven and a half seconds per full screen photo. The photos aren’t anything too special, but with the age of the movie that’s not surprising. There’s also internet and contact information, boxcovers from three other VCA offerings, and a link to let you jump to scenes from certain stars. Themes: Straight, inter-racial, group, lesbian, anal, spanking, DP, and B&D Raincoat Factor: High Overall: Currently, Black Throat can be found online for between $10 and $25 with several stores offering it near the bottom end. If you like inter-racial or different porn, this one should be a great buy at the low end. The transfer is very good, especially when one considers the age of the feature, although there isn’t anything worth mentioning for trailers. Note to VCA: It’s great that you’re bringing out some of these older features. I hope you bring more of the Dark Brothers features out on DVD. If you do, it would be nice to have trailers for some of the other Dark Brothers movies.
