Maria Luisa Bemberg is most noted for her study of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz (I, the Worst of All), but she also made a number of movies set in her native Argentina. This one is unusual for being mostly in English. Julie Christie plays an English governess who escapes depression-era England by taking a job with a family of rich cattle-barons on the Argentine pampas.
