Sinopse Pt Br: Baseado na famosa peça de Barlett Cormack, Roaring Twenties, Racket é um filme noir/ação, sobre um tira durão que quer de qualquer maneira colocar um gangster atrás das grades. Robert Mitchum interpreta o Capitão McQueeg, um homem honesto numa cidade onde impera a corrupção. O promotor público da cidade, Welch (Ray Collins), e o inspetor de polícia, Turck (William Conrad), estão no rastro do chefão da máfia Scanlon (Robert Ryan) e a sua quadrilha. McQueeg persuade a Irene (Lizabeth Scott), uma freqüentadora do clube de Scalon, a depor. Quando Scanlon sabe que Irene vai delatá-lo para o juiz, decide calá-la para sempre. Até mesmo McQueeg, tenta poupar a moça das garras de Scanlon, e consegue que os próprios gângsteres fiquem contra o chefe. A interpretação de Ryan como vilão, é estrelar. O enredo sombrio deste filme, foi magistralmente executado e temperado pelo grande diretor, John Cromwell (Dead Reckoning, Of Human Bondage). Belo e perfeito a cada take com um final atordoador.
