American Top 40 with Casey Kasem aired on radio from July 4, 1970 until August 6, 1988. This rebroadcast is one of many I have recorded from internet radio. Some are incomplete but most are not and I hope you enjoy these as much as I do. In this very first broadcast (which uses the data for the week ending July 11th, 1970): With artists like the Moody Blues (you can hear the pops in vinyl record Casey plays), Mountain, Rare Earth, Blood Sweat & Tears, the Carpenters, Bread, Three Dog Night, Blues Image, and the Beatles (who are still together), its a great countdown. Wilson Pickett re-does an Archies song. One vocal group in the countdown has had 32 hits in the last 9 years. One song has been a hit four different times in 19 years. Casey remembers the 200th birthday of a man who has a piece of music in this countdown. Casey also celebrates the 70th birthday of the man who stopped the Beatles.
