American Top 40 with Casey Kasem aired on radio from July 4, 1970 until August 6, 1988. This rebroadcast is one of many I have recorded from internet radio. A few are incomplete but most are not and I hope you enjoy these as much as I do. In this broadcast: Casey answers the question, "Have any former school-teachers ever hit the top 40?" This countdown has eight debut songs and aired on the same day MTV was launched. There is a band in the countdown where all its memebers live Tuskegee, Alabama, and each lives on a strret named after him. As of this week in 1981, only two countries ever had one act follow another into the number one spot: England and Canada. This countdown adds Australia to the list. Casey answers the question, "What song has spent the most weeks in the top 40 in the rock era?" (It's a four way tie, each song spending half a year on the chart!)
