"From the rocky coast of Maine to the sandy shores of Hawaii, you hear the nation's biggest hits every week at this time on AT40. I'm Casey Kasem and the countdown continues now with Fleetwood Mac and the third big hit from that big album called Fleetwood Mac, 'Say You Love Me'." American Top 40 with Casey Kasem aired on radio from July 4, 1970 until August 6, 1988. This is a recording of a rebroadcast from internet radio. In this broadcast: A listener wants to know which of Motown's many number one hits held the number one spot the longest. Casey says it was the longest song title that ever hit number one for Motown. "A Little Bit More" (at number 28) by Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show was originally written and recorded by Bobby Gosh, who quit the music business after failing to find success. Casey plays a piece of the original. Casey remembers Roger Williams, the man who had more piano hits on the singles and album charts than anybody else in history and was also the most successful boxer at his military installation where he put in his service. When introducing the song "Beth" (at number 17) Casey reports Gene Simmons as saying KISS would never perform without their make-up. Never say never! Casey reflects on the influence of Buddy Holly. A listener wants to know, "What artist has hit the charts under the most different names, whether on his own or as a member of groups?" This artist has been identified on record labels in eight different ways. 40: Dont Go Breaking My Heart - Elton John & Kiki Dee 39: You Don't Have To Be A Star (To Be In My Show) - Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. 38: Say You Love Me - Fleetwood Mac 37: With Your Love - Jefferson Starship 36: Wham Bam - Silver 35: Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright) - Rod Stewart 34: Get The Funk Out Ma Face - The Brothers Johnson 33: Getaway - Earth, Wind & Fire 32: You Are My Starship - Norman Connors 31: A Dose Of Rock And Roll - Ringo Starr 30: This One's For You - Barry Manilow 29: Did You Boogie (With Your Baby) - Flash Cadillac & The Continental Kids 28: A Little Bit More - Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show 27: The Rubberband Man - The Spinners 26: Do You Feel - Peter Frampton 25: The Best Disco In Town - The Ritchie Family 24: I'd Really Love To See You Tonight - England Dan & John Ford Coley 23: Just To Be Close To You - The Commodores 22: You Are The Woman - Firefall 21: More Than A Feeling - Boston 20: Fernando - ABBA 19: Nadia's Theme (The Young & The Restless) - Barry De Vorzon & Perry Botkin Jr. 18: Muskrat Love - The Captain & Tennille 17: Beth - KISS 16: (Don't Fear) The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult 15: The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot 14: Devil Woman - Cliff Richard 13: Magic Man - Heart 12: I Only Want To Be With You - Bay City Rollers 11: That'll Be The Day - Linda Ronstadt 10: Rock'n Me - The Steve Miller Band 9: Love So Right - The Bee Gees 8: She's Gone - Hall & Oates 7: (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty - K.C. & The Sunshine Band 6: Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry 5: Still The One - Orleans 4: Lowdown - Boz Scaggs 3: A Fifth Of Beethoven - Walter Murphy & The Big Apple Band 2: Disco Duck (Part 1) - Rick Dees & His Cast Of Idiots 1: If You Leave Me Now - Chicago
