Gremlins (1984 ) Rand Peltzer ( Hoyt Axton ) is an " inventor " who , in trying to give a unique Christmas gift for his son Billy Peltzer ( Zach Galligan ) , shopping in Chinatown one Mogwai , one apparently being gracious . But the owner , an old Chinese did not want to sell it for any money , because having a Mogwai involves many responsibilities . However , the grandson of the elder sells for two hundred dollars and says the essences to have a Mogwai rules : never put it in front of a bright light and much less in sunlight , which can kill you ; never wet it and the main rule , never feed him after midnight , even though he cry or beg . Rand hears the warning without giving due importance and takes the Mogwai to his home in Kingston Falls , a small town . Meanwhile, Billy works as a bank teller and suffers with the requirements of Ruby Deagle ( Polly Holiday ) , an equally rich and unsympathetic client. Gremlins 2 - The New Batch (1990 ) It's been five years since the incident in Gremlins of Kingston Falls . Soon a new species of Gremlins is created and they soon imprison Gizmo . Kate takes home one of these new Gremlins Gizmo is thinking . When Billy comes home and sees that he is not Mogwai Gizmo , soon concludes that something serious has happened and something infinitely more serious happen if feeding Gremlins after midnight , for sure New York will become a chaos .
