Storyline The story of unfortunate lovers Heathcliff and Cathy who, despite a deep affection for one another, are forced by circumstance and prejudice to live their apart. Πέρα από τα ονόματα των πρωταγωνιστών, δεν είχα καμία ιδέα για την πλοκή του έργου. Όπω&sigmaf; επίση&sigmaf; δεν είχα παρακολουθήσει ποτέ καμία κινηματογραφική μεταφορά του, από τι&sigmaf; πολλέ&sigmaf; που έχουν γίνει. Και παρακολουθώντα&sigmaf; το γοτθικό ρομάντζο με τη σφραγίδα του William Wyler, υπό την παραγωγή του Samuel Goldwyn (τελευταίο όνομα στα credits ο παραγωγό&sigmaf;!), εντύπωση μου έκανε πω&sigmaf; τόσα χρόνια που περάσανε, παιδιά δεν κάνανε οι δύο οικογένειε&sigmaf;; Ψάχνοντα&sigmaf;, διάβασα ότι τα μισά κεφάλαια του βιβλίου αποτέλεσαν το υλικό για την ταινία, επικεντρώνοντα&sigmaf; το ενδιαφέρον στον έρωτα του ζευγαριού. Η συνέχεια θέλει τα παιδιά του Χίκλιφ και τη&sigmaf; Κάθι να σχετίζονται στο μέλλον, κάτι που μου θύμισε ολίγον από το Come and Get It, πάλι του Wyler. Όπω&sigmaf; και να `χει, το Wuthering Heights είναι άλλη μια καλή ταινία από τη χρονιά του 1939, ίσω&sigmaf; μια από τι&sigmaf; καλύτερε&sigmaf; κινηματογραφικέ&sigmaf; χρονιέ&sigmaf;. Από τι&sigmaf; 8 υποψηφιότητε&sigmaf; για όσκαρ, κέρδισε αυτό για την ασπρόμαυρη φωτογραφία, αφού σ` αυτήν την κατηγορία δεν είχε αντίπαλο το Όσα παίρνει ο άνεμο&sigmaf;. Ο Laurence Olivier αποσπά την πρώτη του υποψηφιότητα για όσκαρ, η Merle Oberon γίνεται περισσότερο γνωστή και ο David Niven συνεχίζει να εμφανίζεται σε δεύτερου&sigmaf; ρόλου&sigmaf;. Πειράζει, όμω&sigmaf;, που εγώ προτιμώ τη Τζεζεμπέλ του Wyler πάλι, τη&sigmaf; προηγούμενη&sigmaf; χρονιά&sigmaf;; .
